A post about a post

Yesterday, as the day was winding down, I had a brilliant post idea for my last day of NaBloPoMo. I whipped open the browser and snuggled down to type.
Immediately, someone came over and said “Is this a good time to discuss this project?” Slightly embarrassed to say, “Actually, no, could you come back tomorrow? I’m [...]

Down to the Wire

Crap! Two days left of NaBloPoMo and I’ve found writer’s block. (I have some good stories about work folk, especially stupid work folk, but I’ve made a resolution that there will be no more making fun of co-workers. Lame, I know.)
I did, however, talk to some of the folks in Germany last week. I subtlety [...]

Being Neighborly

There’s a story that’s been big on the news around here, even being picked up by some national news outlets, about a woman who blows horns every time the Broncos score a point. A field goal only warrants three honks; a touchdown is worth a mighty seven.
Jeri, the grandmotherly woman behind the contraption, was on [...]

Employee of the Month

A new “me” started yesterday. I’m calling him that in hopes that it will really become true, even though I’m not completely sold on his abilities. (And really, a new “me?” Them’s some pretty big shoes to fill.)
This guy is my golden ticket, my European vacation for two years, so I really need to keep [...]

Another reason to be thankful I’m not single

One of our goals during our trip to Albuquerque was to get Travis’ mom all set up on Match.com. Since we both like to take photos, we set up a mini photo shoot (complete with costume changes!) and snapped away. We settled on about four great photos and thought we were set.
Until, I looked at [...]

Home Again

We’re home, and despite the bedsores from the car seat and an overall emotional roller coaster of a weekend, New Mexico is behind us. Now, back to work and “normal” for a frantic few weeks until Christmas. AGH!!! Christmas! Tell me it’s not happening on December 25th this year. Please.

Bon Appetit!

In case you’re sick of Thanksgiving-ish foods, I, little Miss Betty Homemaker, hereby share with you two recipes that I’ve created lately. (Yes! Seriously! I created these! But in my defense, I only created them because we were seriously lacking on food in the house before we left for Albuquerque.)
Black Bean Burgers
1 15-oz can black [...]

Getting Old Sucks

Today we spent the day calling assisted living homes, visiting assisted living homes, and trying to figure out how to tell Nana, “Alright, we love you, but it’s time.” Which is a totally hard conversation to have at any age.
I’m more than convinced Travis and I will have enough money for retirement, but for the [...]

Holy freakin’ food

This is the time of day where I hate being a woman. All the gals head to the kitchen and grab a dishtowel and all I want to do is curl up in front of the roaring fire and nap the afternoon away. Somehow, the men always luck out, plopping on the couch and “watching” [...]

Turkey Travels

Unlike last year’s gargantuan Thanksgiving trip, this year we’re going a mere 876 miles to Corrales, New Mexico and back. Corrales is a lovely town outside of Albuquerque where time stands still and all we do is sit by the fire and eat good food and enjoy the company of my amazing mother-in-law.
So, as we [...]
