If you ever move to Germany…

Don’t use a company called Schenker to move your goods.
(You’re thinking, “Schenker? You used a company called Schenker? No wonder you got the schenk.”)
First, Schenker requested some documents to prove that I was legit. Understood, especially considering customs and all that. They asked for a copy of my registration permit, a copy of my passport, [...]

Amsterdam: The Other Story

I posted about our trip to Amsterdam on Super Schnitzel, but of course I left out all of the details that are important. You know, details like we drank BOOZE (like, 4 glasses of it!).
It was actually a calm birthday weekend, most likely due to T’s persistent illness that arrived not long after we deplaned [...]

America, F* Yeah!

A co-worker sent me a link to an event we need to attend - the American sale at Aldi’s on Wednesday.
This amuses me in ways I can’t count, including the American Trader’s Lager which I’m thinking is their way of saying “really shitty bier!” But hey, it’s cheap, and what more can you want?
I also [...]

Was I Just Bitching?

Because someone just brought me this

It’s a sunny Friday afternoon and I’m drinking a mimosa. At work.
Who cares about a few missing towels anyway?

Missing

Towels… to dry off after a shower, to dry dishes, to clean off the counters.
pillows… besides the ONE we packed. ONE. And the ones on our new Ikea couch.
razors… ladies, I know you can relate.
hangers… it sounds simple, but I packed all of our 80+ beautiful matching wooden hangers. Now we have our wardrobe assembled [...]

It was bound to happen…

I missed the bus to work today.
The bus that only comes once an hour.
The bus that, today, was 3 minutes early.
After I ran, in my WORK CLOTHES AND SHOES all the way to the bus stop.
And watched it pull away as I was across the street.

A monumentous occasion!

Our first margaritas in Frankfurt:

A holiday to celebrate a holiday

This place is so weird.
Yesterday was Whit Monday. Everything was closed. Today, as is Frankfurt tradition, everything shuts down (offices and stores) at “mid-day” to celebrate that yesterday was a holiday. Got that?
Why don’t more people want to live here, again?

“These Fuckers Sure Like to Party”

- As quoted from my dear husband.
Yesterday, we went to a festival in a forest. Where there was partying.
Today, as we wandered around the city, we stumbled on to some kind of festival with dancing. And yes, partying.
Which led my husband to utter the above quote. And indeed, it’s true.
In fact, today is Whit Monday, [...]

Things that keep me up at night

XOXO means “hugs and kisses” right?
Well, is X the hug or the kiss? I always thought that X was the kiss because it’s the shape of your lips (kind of) and O is the arms wrapped in a hug. But then wouldn’t XOXO be “kisses and hugs?”
This thought was triggered by an e-mail I got [...]
