SupaCuil?

By now, I’m sure everyone has heard, checked out, and formed their own opinions of the so-called “Google competitor” Cuil. I googled cuiled my full name, and found nothing about me. I tried Super Schnitzel to see if it would return anything about the other blog (”Super Schnitzel” is the most popular search engine term [...]

Big Time, baby

From Urban Dictionary.com:

1.
supacoo

a slang contraction of super cool, adds more flava and emphasis to the statement.

It’s all about the flava.

Vacation Planning

We’ve decided that this year we’ll do Christmas in this half of the world, instead of flying back to the States. Mostly, this is because we’re already going to be back at Thanksgiving, and we couldn’t stomach the thought of two trips in one month. Also, when we originally decided to come at Thanksgiving, we [...]

In Dreams

Is it a bad sign to dream about an extra-large, super-duper sized bag of Doritios falling into my hands AND the owner of my favorite bar back home in the same night? What does that say about the things I miss from home?

Fortunately, there was no burning of bras

On Saturday, Travis and I walked in our first gay rights parade, known as Christopher Street Day in Germany. And I say “walked” lightly, as it was more jumping and dancing and spinning.
About halfway into the parade, just when we thought we would die from the heat, a nice rainstorm started. Or maybe less rain [...]

Keeping My Day Job

I have a friend who wrote a novel, and I somehow must have gotten drunk or had a severe moment of not knowing any better and agreed to edit it for her. The friend can be a little on the absent-minded side, so I’m not sure what I was expecting when she e-mailed me the [...]

TGIF

Last night as we were going to bed, I exclaimed “My god, I’m SO happy tomorrow’s Friday.”
Travis laughed. “It’s not.”
“Yes it is!” I insisted.
“No, today is Wednesday. Tomorrow is THURSDAY.” (As if he was trying to explain this to a three-year old or maybe the cat.)
“What? Nooooo, no no no. Tomorrow’s Friday AND it’s payday.”
“Babe, [...]

I told him I wouldn’t blog about this…

T: So, last night, the cat was coughing and she woke me up.
Me: Oh, yikes.
T: Yeah, and when I woke up, I looked at her and I swear she said “Spaaaa-nish” like a little chihuahua dog.
Me: Spanish?
T: Spaaaa-nish.
Me: Like a chihuahua dog?
T: Yeah, totally. Weird, huh?
Me: (pause) I can’t wait to blog about this.

Wine in Wörrstadt

(Of course, if you were German you’d pronounce that “Vine in Vörrstadt.”)
Last night, we returned to the quaint town of Wörrstadt about 60 km away. We’d gone there once with a big group from work and Travis had the best wine of his life and we decided that while we have wheels we’d better head [...]

How Things Go

Him: Sucka, you haven’t written anything on supacoo lately.
Me: Yeah.
Him: Your readers are going to leave you.
Me: Yeah, well. I haven’t had anything to say lately.
Him: You’re just so good at, you know, making stuff up.
Me: (offended) It’s not made up, sucka! It’s all real!
Him: I know, but…
So this is just my post to say [...]
