If this is it…

Another NaBloPoMo on the books. I have no idea how many years I’ve done this (three maybe? four?) or why I continue to do it. I just don’t like the pressure. I’m a firm believer of quality over quantity. (I’m pretending like my quality is actually good the other 11 months of the year. Humor [...]

Cold Turkey

We have so much food in this house it’s insane. I started feeding the cat some turkey, just so it wouldn’t go to waste.
Ok, so maybe that’s a stretch. The cat was freaking out because apparently she LOVES turkey - like, as of TODAY - so I gave her a few nibbles.
I’ve had three pieces [...]

Lazy Days

Wow, the clock is ticking right by and I just realized I have only 1 hour and 46 minutes to make the NaBloPoMo cutoff. Whoops. After all I’ve been through this month making sure I got my posts up, I can’t fumble this late in the game!
I’m very proud to report that Travis and I [...]

Sad News From the Homefront

Not quite two years ago, my dad’s dog had puppies at Christmas and it was quite the traumatic experience because half of the liter didn’t make it. Of the ones that survived, my dad had his heart melted by a little pup named Gene (short for Genius) and kept that one for himself before giving [...]

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with 45(!) friends. Ok, so not all of them were friends, as some of them we didn’t even meet. I’m still not sure how we all fit in one place… have you SEEN the size of European apartments? But the food was plentiful and awesome.
I think Thanksgiving is one of [...]

Shhh… listen…

Hear that? It’s the blissful, beautiful, peaceful sound of silence.
It’s the smell of not having 3 sweaty boys running around.
It’s the sight of not having lights on all over the house ALL NIGHT with no one in the rooms (drives. me. APESHITCRAZY.)
It’s the feel of only my OWN filth on the floors, counters, and fridge.
It’s [...]

The eve of the eve of the day we have our house back

Last night, the boys decided they wanted to go clubbing. Yes, on a Tuesday. Great idea.
We started at an Irish bar watching soccer, where they proceeded to down an entire bottle of absinthe. (Have any of you ever tried that stuff? Holy. Nasty.) Once they were primed, they followed that up with numerous buckets of [...]

Kinda like fish.

My wise father-in-law once said, “House guests are like fish. They start to really stink after a few days.”
Of course, he said that while we were staying with him. I didn’t read anything into it at the time, but HELLO! Seems pretty obvious to me what was going on there.
Anyway, 20/21-year old boy house guests [...]

I did not inhale.

And that is the truth.
However, I did have an amazing hot chocolate served with a tiny piece of cake in the coffeeshop that was really fascinating.
That’s all I can say about it.
To recap: Thursday, bier bike. Friday - trip to Amsterdam, a 4-hour game of Uno, and running randomly into a friend from Frankfurt [...]

We’re Gonna Make It After All

I am back from Amsterdam and there may or may not have been sex with prostitutes. (Not me, personally.) (Not Travis, either.) But, I’m a total tease and just going to leave you with that tidbit and not tell you more. I can not say more without potentially incriminating some people that I am related [...]
